How your data is actually handled
This section describes what the software really does, not generic legal boilerplate.
- Your video is written to a temporary folder on this computer (or wherever this app is hosted). That working copy is deleted automatically 30 minutes after your last action, or immediately if you click "Delete my video now" on the results page. If the analysis was saved to your account, a copy is kept in that analysis's own folder so you can watch it back — see below.
- Body tracking runs locally — the pose-estimation step never sends your video anywhere.
- When a cloud AI provider is used (Anthropic, OpenAI or Google Gemini), a small number of
still frames from your swing are sent to that provider to generate the written report. With Gemini, the
clip itself can optionally be sent instead — this is off by default (
GEMINI_SEND_VIDEO=false). Nothing else about you is sent. - On free AI tiers (e.g. Google's default free tier), the provider may use submitted content to improve their products. This app shows plainly when you're on a free tier so you can decide whether that trade-off is acceptable for the footage you're submitting.
- If you have an account, each finished analysis is kept so you can open it again later: your name/email, the full written report, the highlighted still frames, and the video you uploaded. Only your own account can request them. This changed recently — previously only the report text was kept and the images and video were discarded, which meant a paid analysis disappeared with the session.
- Only the text is reused in future analyses for the same profile, so the AI can notice patterns over time. Stored images and video are never re-sent to a provider.
- Passwords (if you create an account) are salted and hashed before being stored — the plain password is never written to disk.
- Deleting an analysis, profile or account removes the saved history immediately and permanently — including the stored report, frames and video files on disk, not just the database rows.
- A profile/account is entirely optional — analysing a swing without one works exactly the same, it just isn't remembered afterwards.
Formal privacy policy [PLACEHOLDER — needs legal review]
This section is placeholder legal boilerplate and has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Do not treat it as a binding policy until it has been. It exists so the page has a complete structure to hand to legal review, rather than shipping with a gap.
Data we process
Video files (both the temporary working copy and, for saved analyses, a retained copy), still frames extracted from video, optional profile/account information (name, email, handicap, handedness), and swing report text as described above.
Legal basis
[PLACEHOLDER — to be completed with applicable jurisdiction, e.g. consent under GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) for EU users.]
Third parties
Still frames (or, optionally, video) are sent to the configured AI provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google) solely to generate your coaching report. [PLACEHOLDER — list each provider's own privacy policy link once a provider is fixed for production use.]
Your rights
[PLACEHOLDER — access, correction, deletion and portability rights per applicable law.] In practice today: delete your video any time from the results page, and delete your profile/account any time from the Account page — both take effect immediately.
Contact
[PLACEHOLDER — a real contact address once this is a live product.]
